Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for the Antelope Valley Learning Academy?
The Antelope Valley Learning Academy is an autonomous public school that can enroll students living in the school's home county (Los Angeles) or adjoining counties.

How many of my children can I enroll in the Antelope Valley Learning Academy?
Because the Antelope Valley Learning Academy provides all the lesson plans and materials needed, many parents find it easy to enroll multiple children in the program. We currently have families with as many as four children in the program being guided by one Supervising Teacher in conjunction with the support of a team of teachers.

What does it cost to attend the Antelope Valley Learning Academy?
Because AVLA is a public charter school, there is no tuition. However, students and families will be responsible for providing some consumable materials (such as paper, pencils and notebooks).

What is the attendance policy?
AVLA works with families toward a positive attendance record to meet their days of required instruction during the school year.

Can I take a vacation during the school year?
The school calendar includes school "holidays" or vacation time. Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. If a student skips a day during the week, he or she will be marked absent. Vacation is not an approved reason for absence in the state of California.
